The Endangered Species Fund exists to stand behind the rangers who stand between wildlife and extinction.

While global donations often fund high-tech equipment, we focus on the human essentials — proper boots, durable socks, personal care supplies, and support for female rangers — the everyday items that protect dignity, health and morale.

We raise funds to equip, uplift and honour the individuals who risk their lives daily and who, despite modest government wages, continue to support their families in remote villages.

By caring for the ranger, we strengthen conservation at its very source.

Because protecting wildlife begins with protecting those who protect it.

The Belize Ranger Initiative.

Protecting wildlife begins with protecting those who protect it.

Our first project will support the dedicated rangers of the Belize Audubon Society. Just ten rangers are responsible for patrolling more than 150 square miles of the magnificent Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, where they not only safeguard endangered wildlife but also confront the ongoing threat of illegal logging of precious hardwoods such as mahogany.

Help Us With Funds For Our Next Shipment

To Rangers In Belize.

John Chisholm and daughter Trish Chisholm, and fellow director Logan Tarleton.

July 2026 – We sent our first shipment to Belize!

These boxes contain:
Backpacks, Hydration packs, Ranger Vests, Socks, A Drone, Satellite Phone, Headlamps, Hammocks, Water Filter Straws, and Android Devices.  As this is our first shipment, they will test the items we’ve selected for long-term suitability.  We will then add other items, such as boots.

The kit needs to be tough enough to last in the Belize Forests, with challenging dry and wet seasons. Dense vegetation will need to be cut through with pangas, and items can get ripped by thorns and other sharp hazards.

This equipment costs over $5,000, with an additional shipping expense of just under $800. That’s why we always appreciate contributions to replenish our bank balance!  We’re all volunteers.
